While most of us are stuck in the 9-5 run, some are adapting to the new self-sufficient way of life.
It confuses me when people say that homesteading is an EXPENSIVE hobby and they just breakeven with their expenses after the sales from homesteaded surplus, because most of us start homesteading to SAVE money.
There is a certain set of skills that every homesteader needs, but they are easy to develop as a modern homesteader and using a little logic.
Here are a few ways to earn a lot of money while homesteading
Plant a Few More Every Year
Whoever sets out for homestead, start with farming.
This year when you start your seeds, start a few extra. The extra would eventually give you a little more in the harvest and that ‘little more’ will be the extra surplus.
Make Your Own Compost
Compost is one of the most expensive resources for homesteading.
If you could create your own compost you’d be saving a lot, probably even manage all your monthly expenses with that money.
Raise Bees, Sheep and Fluffies
Bees are giving creatures. All they need from you is a way to survive the winter and a lot of flowers. If you could provide them with that, they are going to make you rich with honey and beeswax. You can even sell bees when they grow in numbers
You can raise lambs for meat or for their wool. While lamb meat sells at high prices, shearing them for wool gives you money-warm pockets every year.
Rabbits hardly require any space or extra effort to raise and they only bring cuteness in your lives. But their poo is used for a lot of things and you could sell it for a few dollars for every bag.
Sell Your Flowers
While you raise bees and grow some flowers for their tummies, guess what else you can sell? The flowers.
Roadside produce stands are a good way to a get a little extra everyday and make people smile with bouquets.
Or Rent Your Picturesque Homestead
People are always looking for beautiful places to have family gatherings, get married or to just take a few pictures.
If you have a spot where people or even you love to be, then rent it out for a fee and get a little hard cash from the passive business.
Sell Your Creativity
Handmade and chemical free lotions, soaps and scented candles are something people fall in love with.
You could add natural flower color or even petals in them and then carve in a design.
Such products sell for really high prices, some even beat the most expensive brands.
Share What You Know Online
A lot of people and newbies are looking forward to listening to your experiences and adventures as a homesteader.
Share your knowledge with them through a blog or an eBook and make a revenue more than what most jobs pay.
If you could manage to do everything on the list and put in a little creativity of your own, you could manage to earn a few thousand dollars every month!
